Bayern Munich have drawn first blood in their Champions League quarter-final with Juventus, producing a 2-0 victory at the Allianz Arena.
The German giants thoroughly deserved their first leg victory which came courtesy of goals from David Alaba and Thomas Muller and are in a great position to move through to the semi-finals.
The opener came inside 30 seconds when left-back Alaba let rip from range with the ball deflecting slightly off Arturo Vidal and past keeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Bayern dominated the entire first half and could have been further ahead at the break with Bastian Schweinsteiger and Arjen Robben going close on a couple of occasions.
Just after the hour-mark, however, Bayern doubled their advantage when they made the most of a parried Buffon save from Luiz Gustavo's effort with Mario Mandzukic slipping the rebound to an unmarked Muller to slot home.
Juventus pressed to get at least one goal back for the second leg in Turin next week but Bayern were able to see them off and record a handy two-goal victory which gives them every conceivable chance of moving through to the final four.
