Arsenal finally made their territorial domination count in the second minute of added time as substitute Aaron Ramsey scored the only goal of the game in the 1-0 win at Marseille. Both these teams have been having difficult seasons in their respective league's and the lack of goalmouth action bore this out.
At least Arsenal looked more comfortable at the back against a Marseille side who, whilst enjoyed plenty of the ball, rarely threatened to score.
Not that the Gunners created many chances as too often promising situations disappeared in third with disappointing crosses or the wrong final pass.
At least in the second half Arsenal looked more confident going forward but up to the goal only a Theo Walcott shot from close range had troubled the French keeper.
But with the game going into injury time Ramsey collected the ball and even though his first touch wasn't good the Wales international still managed to prod the ball home.
The Gunners now top Group F and have still to lose a European game in France. Referee: D Skomina (SLOV)
