CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Boyata to the rescue as Celtic edge Qarabag

Dedryck Boyata secured a 1-0 win for Celtic in the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifier against Qarabag on Wednesday night.

The centre-back, who joined from Manchester City earlier this summer, scored a late header from Kris Commons' corner in the 82nd minute against a very resolute Azerbaijani outfit..

Celtic will now play the return leg in Baku next Wednesday.

The Hoops had previously beaten Icelandic minnows Stjarnan 6-1 on aggregate in their last Champions League qualifier. Celtic will begin their league campaign against Ross County on Saturday, but they still have a lot of work to do next week to remain in the European competition.
