Liverpool were keen on Calum Chambers before he committed to a new Southampton deal yesterday, it has been revealed.
The Daily Star says Chambers, 18, rejected interest from Liverpool to sign a four-year deal at St Mary's.
The defender is seen at Saints as cover for Nathaniel Clyne.
