Chairman: James signing will help lure players to Bristol City

Chairman Steve Lansdown is confident David James' decision to join Bristol City will help the club attract more new players to Ashton Gate. England keeper James surprised a few people when he signed a one-year deal with the Championship club despite interest from Celtic and Sunderland.

He told Bristol City player: "When we are out there looking for players to come to join Bristol City Football Club, I think the fact that someone like David James has joined us makes it easier for players to think 'actually Bristol City Football Club is a big football club I want to go there'."
