MLS Defender of the Year and former Columbus Crew player Chad Marshall has been told he will have to wait until the New Year to learn if he's done enough in trials to win a contract with Germany's Mainz. "Our manager talked to him and there will be no decision this year," Mainz press officer Tobias Sparwasser told yanks-abroad.com.

"We've got an injured [central] defender Bo Svensson, and we're going to wait to see if he'll make his comeback at the start of next year, maybe in training camp. Chad is still on our list but there will be no decision soon."
