Cesena have declared talks with Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu are now over.

The Serie A minnows concede there was little chance of signing Mutu after a meeting yesterday:

"On Tuesday June 21 Cesena President Igor Campedelli met with Pietro Chiodi, the Romanian player's agent, in Rome.

"The President was in the city due to other business and took the opportunity to verify the possibility of a move for Mutu.

"Unfortunately, though, negotiations came to a halt as there is too much difference between the economic offer and demands."
