Cesc urges English football not to lose passion, tackling

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has urged the English game not to lose it's passion.

Fabregas's Spain team-mate Xabi Alonso has spoken of tackling being a last resort that the English obsess over.

Former Arsenal captain Cesc told the Daily Mail: "I think Xabi is referring to the situation when you have to play your last card,' he says. 'In Spain, defenders are not as quick to buy dummies sold to them by forwards. In England the attacker twitches and the defender dives in very quickly. 'In Spain, the defender will stay on his feet for longer and hold his ground. There is one player who has played in both leagues and does that better than anyone - Javier Mascherano.

"He dives in and always comes away with the ball. He's clever too, he knows when to fly in and when to stand his ground."
