Cesar delighted to grab Tottenham chance

Cesar Sanchez was happy with make his Tottenham debut in this week's Carling Cup victory over Liverpool.

Cesar featured after Heurelho Gomes was forced off injured and he told Marca: "Unfortunately, I made my debut because of a team-mate's injury, something that nobody likes doing, but I was focused on doing a good job and I was prepared for such an opportunity.

"It only lasted for 20 minutes, but I enjoyed it and was the first Coria-born player to play a game in England."

Cesar added about his fellow goalie's health: "Gomes seems to be better today. He received a strong knock and we will have to see how he recovers. The important thing is him being back for the coach as soon as possible.

"I had not played an official game for ages, it was almost six months since I last played for Zaragoza. Here I just played reserve games, which is good to keep the rhythm for the competition.

"I felt weird during my first minutes on the pitch because I was not used to it and even the lights seemed strange to me, as I was used to the Romareda's.

"But the people's warmness was a boost and it was emotional so I want to thank them for their help. They sang my name, something that surprised me a lot because I was an unknown person here.

"The fans are passionate here, they help you in hard times and in good too."
