Central Coast thwarted by Tianjin in ACL

Central Coast Mariners managed to pick up a point against Tianjin Teda in China in the Asian Champions League. The Mariners went down in the 37th minute went Luis Eber headed home for Tianjin and went into the break wondering how they could work their way back into the second group match.

Three minutes after the re-start, Adrian Caceres delivered the answer who knocked in a shot after being substituted on at half-time.

The visitors then took the lead just after the hour-mark through Matt Simon who collected the ball in the area, powered his way past a Tianjin defender and slotted from five yards.

It took Tianjin just five minutes to restore the peace through another header, this time by Wu Wei'an, making the score 2-2.

The two Mariners goal scorers then had late efforts thwarted and could only come away with a single point.
