Central Coast's Heffernan outed for two matches

Central Coast Mariners will be out for the remainder of the regular season and the first finals match, if the Mariners happen to make it.

Heffernan was sent off for elbowing Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat in Friday night's 3-0 loss at the Telstra Dome, an incident he described as a 'brain explosion'.

The Mariners currently sit in fourth position and will know more on Sunday about what exactly they need to do to make the finals with fifth-placed Wellington Phoenix taking on the Victory on Friday night.

If they can make the Grand Final then Heffernan will be available.
