Central Coast Mariners midfielder Rostyn Griffiths admits he would jump at the chance to represent Australia if it ever came his way.

The 22-year old English-born Griffiths has played for Australia at U17 level but is also eligible to play for Wales because of his grandfather's heritage.

The former Blackburn Rovers, Gretna, Accrington Stanley, Adelaide United and North Queensland Fury man has had a stellar season with the Mariners, helping them into the A-League Grand Final with consistent performances in central midfield for Graham Arnold's side.

Griffiths' name has been mentioned a couple of times by Wales national team manager Brian Flynn but he says he would love to represent the Socceroos and hopes Holger Osieck comes knocking.

"I have always said my No. 1 pick is Australia," Griffiths said.

"But the option is there [with Wales] because of my grandfather. Brian [Flynn] spoke to me on two occasions about playing for Wales."

But Griffiths has more pressing matters - this Saturday night's season decider against Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium - which he wants to focus on.

"We are both good sides, we have our own styles of football but it will all come down to who keeps their nerves," he added.

"We caught them off their game a couple of weeks ago and it's a case of us getting our game 100 per cent right."
