Central Coast Mariners members and supporters dig deep for flood relief

The Central Coast Mariners are delighted to announce that $7000 was raised during the Mariners week 22 Hyundai A-League clash with Brisbane Roar at Bluetongue Stadium last night, for the Queensland Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

Volunteers from the Mariners supporter group, the Yellow Army, Central Coast Mariners and Bluetongue Stadium staff manned buckets around the ground and the 7,213 at Bluetongue last night dug deep to help those affected by the devastating floods wreaking havoc through much of Queensland.

"This is the Australian spirit at its best," said Mariners Chairman Peter Turnbull.

"The Brisbane Roar team and support staff, as well as a good number of travelling supporters were last night away from their loved ones and their homes at this time of national emergency, and I heard first hand accounts from many last night, including Brisbane players, of just how badly they have been affected.

"I think it's safe to say this tragedy has touched all Australians and I would personally like to extend a warm thankyou to the Bluetongue Stadium staff, the Yellow Army, and of course to the Members and supporters who not only gave so generously, but also impeccably observed a minute's silence before the match," said Turnbull.

The $7000 collected at last night's match has already been passed on to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal but Mariners Members and supporters still have the chance to help out.

An auction offering dinner for four people with Mariners Head Coach Graham Arnold and Football and Commercial Operations Manager Lawrie McKinna, along with four tickets as guest of Mariners' Chairman Peter Turnbull in the Chairman's Lounge for the final regular match of the season against Newcastle Jets on Sunday, 13 February, and mariners Merchandise is currently active.
