Burnley have been frightened off by Celtic's price-tag for striker Derek Riordan.

Celtic are holding out for a fee in the region of £1million to smooth the exit of Riordan, after Burnley had a loan approach for the marginalised forward turned down, says the Daily Mail.

It's the latest instalment in a long-running story of frustration for Riordan, who is desperately keen to kick-start his stalled career by finding regular first-team football this month.

The Parkhead club are understood to now be agreeable to his departure, but will not allow the player - who turns 25 next week - to leave without substantial compensation.
