Celtic target El Ghanassy would prefer France move

Belgian youngster Yasser El Ghanassy has confirmed Celtic made an offer for his services, although he would prefer a move to France over Scotland. The 20 year old striker has his sights on UEFA Champions League football and is keen on a move to Lyon or Marseille, although for now he is simply focusing on Gent.

"Celtic's interest was serious," El Ghanassy told footmercato.net. "They wanted me in January, but my club do not want me to leave. Buy anyway, moving to Scotland is a secondary option and interests me much less than Ligue 1.

"Lyon and Marseille? What a dream. These are two French clubs who play regularly in the Champions League and it would be great for me if I get to go. If not, I'll redouble my efforts in training here.

"At the moment all that matters to me is to have a fine season with Gent. It's unlikely I'll leave my club this winter.

"We'll see in the next few months what offers my agent and manager receives. I'm currently with a well run club. I'm making progress so I have every intention to stay at least until the end of the season."
