The 25-year old Honduran came away with a broken leg from the weekend's victory at Aberdeen but it is yet to be determined exactly how long he will be sidelined for.
Whatever the case, Hoops boss Neil Lennon knows the loss of Izaguirre, even for a short time, is a major one for his team.
"We are still waiting on the timescale," added Lennon. "That will probably depend on the surgery and how it is when they open him up.
"Even if it is a short-term injury, it is a blow but it is looking like it is going to be mid to long-term.
"Initially we didn't think much of it but we watched the DVD afterwards and you can clearly see it is a bad one."
