Celtic starlet Henderson: Gerrard, Zidane and my old man are my heroes

Celtic youngster Liam Henderson has revealed two of his childhood heroes but says the hardest person to please is his old man.

The 17-year old midfielder made his second Hoops start in the weekend's 3-0 home win over St Mirren and was again impressive after making his full debut last Friday at Kilmarnock.

Henderson admits that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and former Real Madrid and Juventus great Zinedine Zidane are two of the players he admires most but he says he cannot leave out his father Nicky who played in Scotland's lower leagues throughout his humble career.

"He is a hard man to please. I don't think I'll ever please him. Ever!," Henderson told the Daily Record.

"Gerrard and Zidane were others but my Dad was a brilliant player and I need to give him a mention as one of my heroes growing up. He was the biggest influence on my career, along with my Mum. They did a lot of running about after me.

"My Dad played for the likes of Falkirk, Hamilton and Partick Thistle. The way he talks to me after games is a huge influence.

"He's been part of my football career since I was four, driving me everywhere for games and travelling all over the world to watch me."
