The Celtic star - who is 22 on Friday - is desperate to make an early impression on new Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni in two friendlies and at a training camp in the Algarve.
Asked if he'd be going to Japan, McGeady admitted: "I don't know.
"I've got two games with Ireland coming up and, if selected, hopefully I'll be away there. I'm really looking forward to working with Trapattoni."
