Celtic star Forster owes England call-up to manager Lennon

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster has praised manager Neil Lennon for helping him receive his first England national team call.

The 24-year old gloveman was yesterday called into Roy Hodgson's 25-man squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland and he was quick to thank Lennon for showing so much faith in him.

"I got a call from the boss on Wednesday to let me know he thought it was going to happen and then I found out for definite on Thursday," said the 24-year old who joined Celtic permanently from Newcastle United in the summer after two seasons on loan at Parkhead.

"Things have worked out very well so far at Celtic and I need to say a big thanks to everyone who has been involved.

"The gaffer has really pushed hard for me to get in. Our goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods has been brilliant, along with all the sports science stuff.

"It's something I've aimed for and worked towards and I'm delighted. It probably won't sink in until I've been there and done it though.

"I'm excited and looking forward to meeting up with the squad now."
