Celtic skipper McDonald: Brisbane crowd made me feel proud to be Australian

Captain for the day Scott McDonald says his Celtic teammates were thrilled with the way they were treated in Brisbane over the weekend. McDonald helped Celtic to a 3-0 win over Brisbane Roar on Sunday in front of over 31,000 fans and told tribalfootball.com: "I'm very, very proud.

"The captaincy was nice, but I'm also delighted to show off Australia to my teammates. I told them they would enjoy the experience - and I must say everything has been first class.

"It's been great to hear all the different accents among the fans at training over the last couple of days. We all really appreciate how far some of them travelled to see us play."

The Australia international added: "There's been no negative comments from anyone in the dressing room. The organisation has been excellent and I also want to say thank-you to the Brisbane Roar players, who didn't sit back during the game.

"It's important to recognise the efforts fans make to get to games like this and both teams were determined to give it our best.

"It was just a great experience all round."
