Celtic skipper Brown: I would miss the Old Firm matches I thrive on

Celtic captain Scott Brown admits he would miss Old Firm clashes with Rangers if the club were forced out of the Scottish Premier League.

The Ibrox outfit yesterday fell into liquidation after HMRC voted against a Company Voluntary Arrangement and face being kicked out of Scotland's top flight as a newco.

Brown says it would be a shame if his club were unable to compete against their arch rivals anymore and also had plenty of sympathy for the players in blue who will be affected financially.

"I signed for Celtic to play against Rangers and to play in Europe," said Brown.

"We've had some great games and we have had some bad games as well and we would definitely like there to be more - that's for sure.

"You would always miss them, especially going to Ibrox. When we won there, it was phenomenal.

"It's a great atmosphere, even with Rangers coming to Celtic Park. It's like a Champions League night.

"It's just one of those days that you thrive on."

He added: "It's hard for anyone not knowing your future and not knowing what's going to happen.

"They've got mortgages to pay, they've got bills, so I don't know what people have going through their minds right now."
