Celtic captain Scott Brown has supported teammate Kris Commons for his decision to prematurely end his Scotland career.
The 29-year old yesterday called time on his international playing days after just 12 caps, citing club football as the major reason for his announcement.
The choice was met with derision by Scottish Football Association performance director Mark Wotte who posted the following on Twitter.

But Hoops skipper Brown has defended Commons, saying his desire should never be questioned.
"There is nothing wrong with Kris' desire. He is one of the first into training in the morning and one of the last to leave," he said.
"Kris has come to Celtic and shown just what he can do. He trains hard and he is always in the gym.
"I understand where he is coming from with his decision. We stay away in a lot of hotels on European trips and it is hard to see your family.
"Kris will be a loss for Scotland. He is a great player and has shown that this season. He has been on fire with the goals he has scored.
"He is great to have around the dressing room."
