Celtic have signed up Middlesbrough striker Ben Hutchinson on a pre-contract agreement.

The 20 year old should move for free in the summer but could make the transfer in January if Celtic agree a fee for the player.

Boro manager Gareth Southgate said: "It's something that has emerged over the last couple of days and I haven't even had a chance to speak to Ben."

Southgate added: "I don't want to say too much about that at this moment in time because there is a bit of investigating to be done into it."

Hutchinson has appeared only eight times for Middlesbrough this season and appears surplus to requirements at the Riverside.
