Celtic striker Georgios Samaras has turned down the chance to join French Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes.
The 26-year old Greece international has been linked with a Parkhead departure this summer but he certainly will not be leaving for France after Rennes' general manager Pierre Dreossi confirmed he had rejected an offer.
"We were interested in Samaras and we called Celtic yesterday," Dreossi told STV.
"The transfer is not possible because the player doesn't want to leave Celtic for France. The matter is now closed."
It is also believed that Saint-Etienne were keen on Samaras but decided to end their interest when the Hoops quoted the £1million transfer fee.
