Charlie Mulgrew believes his Celtic teammate Kris Commons will be able to decide whether or not he makes a return to international football.
The 30-year old attacking midfielder opted to step away from the Scotland national team in May 2013 to concentrate on club football with the Scottish champions.
His recent form, having scored 14 league goals this season, has warranted a possible Scotland recall but current international Mulgrew believes there should be no pressure placed on the Nottingham Forest and Derby County man.
"That's up to Kris," Mulgrew told The Scotsman. "He knows what's best for him and as long as he keeps doing it for Celtic that's the main thing. I would think Scotland would welcome him back, although it's a decision Gordon Strachan would need to make.
"But whatever Kris thinks is best, he knows what's right for him and I'm not going to try and tell him. If that's how he's playing with the benefit of having a break from international football, then he's probably better off continuing it. But it's not my business, it's up to him, although we'd welcome him back for Scotland."
