Celtic’s McManus on his way to Middlesbrough

Stephen McManus will complete his long-awaited permanent move to Middlesbrough within the next 72 hours, reports the Sunday Sun.

Boro have agreed a fee with Celtic and a three-year contract with McManus, and now only minor details over personal terms are delaying the deal.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the Riverside, and Boro boss Gordon Strachan has never disguised his intent to land his former Parkhead skipper on a full-time basis.

That story was published on June 13th 2010 in the Sunday Sun. McManus has been gone for months.
