Celtic defender Daniel Majstorovic will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing a cruciate ligament at Sweden training today.

The 34-year old centre-half collided with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anders Svensson late in the session and will now undergo an operation to fix the problem.

"Celtic's medical team will be in close liaison with the Swedish FA medical team to ensure that Daniel receives the best of care," read a statement on Celtic's official website.

"Unfortunately he will be out long-term. Everyone at Celtic wishes Daniel a speedy recovery from injury."

Majstorovic had only recently returned from a badly broken cheekbone which he sustained whilst on club duty just over two months ago.
