Celtic's Kilmarnock loanee Irvine looking to put best foot forward with Socceroos

Jackson Irvine is hoping he can get an opportunity to show what he is capable of when Australia takes on France and Canada over the next week.

The Socceroos meet Les Bleus in Paris on Friday (Saturday morning AEDT) and Canada in London four days later and the 20-year old Celtic midfielder, on loan at Kilmarnock, is eager to impress as the 2014 World Cup approaches.

"It's going to be a great experience I'm really looking forward to it," said Irvine.

"It's a very nice surprise and wasn't really something I was expecting so I'm just going to look to make the most out of it.

"There are so many boys that are in their very early twenties and even younger still that haven't quite been given the chance for the first team yet but I'm sure they will eventually."

Irvine is one of nine players under the age of 25 who has been selected by Holger Osieck for the friendly double header.
