Celtic's Izaguirre now eyeing success with Honduras

Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre has enjoyed a thoroughly successful season in Scotland but his campaign is nowhere near finished.

Izaguirre helped the Hoops capture the domestic double but is unable to switch off just yet as he and his Honduras teammates prepare for three vital World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica, Jamaica and the USA next month.

"This season has been incredible for me and for Celtic. What I've experienced this season has been a blessing from God," he told SunSport.

"We have won two trophies and I have had an incredible experience in the Champions League.

"This year was very intense. I played around 60 games in the league, cups, Champions League and with Honduras.

"Now I have to switch on with Honduras again."

Honduras sit third on CONCACAF's final, or hexagonal, round of qualifying and Izaguirre is well aware of the importance of the next three fixtures.

"We have massive games coming up and I hope I can help the national team," he added.

"Helping Honduras qualify for the World Cup in Brazil would be a fantastic end to this season for me.

"I'm looking forward to starting training with the national team.

"I hope I can help my country take a step closer to qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil.

"We have a friendly game against Israel which will help us get ready for these three games.

"I have faith in God that Honduras can win the games against Costa Rica, Jamaica and the United States and we can play in a World Cup for the second time in succession."
