Celtic's Commons, Mulgrew will not be flogged says Scotland's Stark

Celtic pair Kris Commons and Charlie Mulgrew will be spared a tough workout when Scotland meet Luxembourg tonight.

The Hoops duo have been under a heavy schedule in recent times with the Scottish champions performing so well in the Champions League.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon suggested to Scotland caretaker boss Billy Stark during the week to go easy on Commons and Mulgrew and it appears as though he will honour that wish.

"We spoke about the likes of James (Forrest) and Scott (Brown) and it didn't make any sense at all to include them. But he said Kris and Charlie would be available," Stark said.

"Neil sees them on a day-to-day basis and that judgment can change accordingly. Maybe when I spoke to him he was fine with it but, after the weekend, then maybe he had a slightly different view. But hopefully he can trust me to be sympathetic and do everything I can to take care of them.

"I have total respect and understanding for their situation. We have to be in a position to compromise sometimes but at the same time we need to look after ourselves and put out a team capable of winning the game."
