Celtic captain Scott Brown feels that Charlie Mulgrew is one of the best centre-backs in Britain at present.
The 25-year old this week received his first Scotland national team call-up for next week's friendly with Slovenia after being a fringe player at club level just over a year ago.
Mulgrew's rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed by Brown who feels he could be a top defender for Scotland for years to come and even suggested big clubs in England may be showing interest.
"He definitely deserves his Scotland call-up and if he is selected I think he'll do his country and himself proud.
"If you look at Charlie now, he's progressed in leaps and bounds. He's flying and I don't think any centre-half in Scotland or even Britain is playing as well.
"Charlie's probably one of the best centre-halves I've played with and he's versatile. He's also got a left foot to die for.
"His left peg really is dynamite. Anywhere from 20 to 30 yards out he's always going to put the keeper under pressure.
"On the ball, he's probably one of the most technical centre-halves about. The way he's been playing I think any big team in England would happily snap him up.""I see Charlie every day in training and he's been one of our best players this season," Brown said.
