Celtic's Barcelona loss well below standards says Lennon

Celtic's 6-1 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night was a performance well below the standards set by the Scottish club.

They are the sentiments of Bhoys boss Neil Lennon who felt less than a handful of players could hold their head up after a shocking display in their final group stage of the Champions League.

"There were only two or three players who showed anything, Virgil van Dijk, Adam Matthews and Mikael Lustig and I excuse the goalkeeper (Fraser Forster) but the rest of the team were very very poor, well below the standards set in the last few years," he said.

"It was really tough to take. We were playing a great side but we were better than that.

"We will have to analyse it and look at the character which was there tonight."

Celtic finished at the bottom of Group H on three points with just one win from their six outings, having scored just three goals and conceding 14.
