Celtic defender Efe Ambrose has praised Kris Commons for his brilliant season with the Scottish champions.
The attacking midfielder was the man to fill the goalscoring void left by Gary Hooper, who joined Norwich City last summer, and his efforts have been lauded by his teammate Ambrose.
Commons has scored 25 Scottish Premiership goals for a total of 30 in all competitions this term which landed him the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award and earned him rave reviews from the Nigerian defender.
"It is unbelievable, scoring 30 goals from the midfield. We never thought Kris was going to step into Gary Hooper's shoes," Ambrose told the Daily Record.
"We thought Anthony Stokes would. Nobody gave Kris a chance.
"But you can see he has brought ambition and hard work to his game.
"He had a desire to achieve something this season, that is why he retired from the Scotland team.
"Kris wanted to concentrate properly on the league and get himself into the best shape.
"He has achieved his goal. It's a credit to him and we owe Kris a lot this season because he has helped us."
