Celtic are interested in FC Groningen defender Andreas Granqvist.

The former Wigan Athletic stopper expressed last week an ambition to move to a bigger club. Newcastle United and Fulham have been linked with the defender.

The Daily Express says the Hoops are reportedly on the trail of five-times capped Swedish international defender Granqvist - according to the player himself who says a deal looks "promising". The 25-year-old ex-Wigan player has spent the last two years at FC Groningen in Holland.
