Celtic relieved as Lustig injury not a break

Celtic manager Neil Lennon felt relieved after Mikael Lustig was cleared of a break in his leg following the weekend's win over Dundee United.

The Swedish defender was brought down by a heavy Gavin Gunning challenge which forced him from the pitch in the second half but the Hoops are confident the damage is not too serious.

"I thought the challenge on Mikael was reckless to say the least," said Lennon.

"There is no fracture thankfully, it might be ligament damage. It is a relief because he is a top player."

However, Gunning defended himself saying there was no negative intentions on his behalf.

"I didn't think there was much in it, we both just went for the ball and I landed on top of him but there was no malice in it. I went in after the game and he was okay, so it couldn't have been that bad," he said.
