Norwich City have failed with a bid of £6 million for Celtic striker Gary Hooper.

The Daily Mail says Norwich manager Chris Hughton is keen to strengthen his side up front, and sees the 24-year-old as the ideal candidate.

But Celtic boss Neil Lennon is still hoping to hold on to Hooper, who has scored 17 goals for the SPL champions so far this season.

Lennon said: "The bid has been rejected. We had discussions with his representatives this morning and we are waiting to hear back from them."
