Celtic, Rangers on trail of Galatasaray's Zan

Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are believed to be getting set for a battle to land Turkish defender Gokhan Zan. The 29-year old is out of contract at Galatasaray and is available on a free transfer which makes him very appealing to the Glasgow giants.

Reports suggest that Gala' want him to take a 50% pay cut on his current £50,000-a-week deal which has alerted the Old Firm, particularly 'Gers who are desperately keen to bring in a new central defender.

With Madjid Bougherra reportedly wanting out and veteran David Weir yet to decide on his future, Ally McCoist is looking to bring in reinforcements as he gets set for his first season as manager at Ibrox.

Zan, who has represented Turkey on 33 occasions. stands at 6foot 3inches and is known for his physicality in the centre of defence.
