Celtic, Rangers go for West Ham defender Gabbidon

West Ham United defender Danny Gabbidon is a wanted man.

A return to Cardiff City is on the table for the Welsh veteran, but the Sunday Mail says Celtic and Rangers have also been in contact.

Gers boss Walter Smith wants to bolster the backbone of his team and Gabbidon is under consideration.

The wages are a problem but Rangers could take on slightly more than half his earnings.

However, rival gaffer Neil Lennon is also desperate to bring in a central defender after watching Thomas Rogne pick up a calf injury yesterday.

And Lennon will go for Gabbidon if the Hoops fail to seal a deal for Nottingham Forest's Kelvin Wilson.
