West Brom were outbid by Celtic for Derry City winger Paddy McCourt, it has been revealed.

The Birmingham Mail says Celtic moved in to take advantage of the low fee that Albion had already agreed with the Eircom League club, which was £75,000 up front followed by a further £75,000 after 10 Premier League appearances and a money-spinning friendly which would have generated an extra £50,000.

It's reported Celtic's bid was slightly higher, with Derry also likely to generate more money through gate receipts from any friendly against Gordon Strachan's side.
