Kris Commons has been urged to pull out of the Scotland squad because of a foot injury sustained in the weekend's win over Aberdeen.
Hoops assistant Alan Thompson feels that the former Derby County midfielder would be wise to withdraw from Craig Levein's roster for Wednesday's international friendly with Denmark at Hampden Park so he can recover for Saturday's meeting with Dundee United.
"I think the important word is friendly," said Thompson.
"Had it been a qualifier for Scotland then it puts a different slant on it.
"But with it being a friendly, we would much prefer him to be rested and try and get him right for the weekend, which will be touch and go, I would think."
