Celtic continued their winning form with a 4-0 away thrashing of Kilmarnock at Rugby Park last night. The Hoops kept the pressure on Old Firm and title rivals Rangers, moving to within one point of their Glasgow foes with a game in hand ahead of this Sunday's crunch meeting at Ibrox.
It was their fifth win in a row and was set up when Kris Commons scored his seventh league goal in his just his 10th appearance four minutes in with a rifled shot from just inside the box after being slipped through by Gary Hooper.
Derby County man doubled the lead 30 minutes later when he was again played in by Hooper before slotting it past Killie keeper Anssi Jaakkola.
Celtic were soon 3-0 ahead thanks to Hooper's 17th goal in just his 21st appearance four minutes before half-time. The goal came when Anthony Stokes found the ex-Suncthorpe United striker who fired home from the edge of the area with the assistance of a deflection.
If the game wasn't already wrapped up by half-time, it certainly was less than 15 minutes into the second half when Stokes grabbed his 15th of the season. Hooper was again the supplier with Stokes' drive going high past Jaakkola to make it 4-0 and put Celtic in with a huge chance of ending Rangers' run of two titles in a row.
