Celtic great McNeill criticises clubs 'fans'

Former Celtic captain Billy McNeill has blasted supposed 'fans' of the club for their recent behavior at Europa League games.

Hoops supporters produced an offensive banner and threw a flare ion last week's clash with Udinese in Italy and have again been charged by UEFA following an earlier indictment stemming from a November match against French club Rennes.

McNeill has heavily criticised those involved who he believes are bringing the clubs name into disrepute.

"This has left me hurt and disappointed. For generations, Celtic's fans have had a great record in Europe," he said.

"Now that reputation is in danger of being wrecked by these people - I struggle to call them fans."
