Celtic will attempt to encourage season ticket sales ahead of next season by staging a series of meetings with supporter groups. Media reports suggest caretaker manager Neil Lennon and the Glasgow club's chief executive Peter Lawwell will visit fans in Scotland, England and Ireland to discuss future plans.

The Hoops have completed one of their worst seasons in recent times in which manager Tony Mowbray was sacked for his failure to challenge for the Scottish Premier League title.

Lawwell has sent a letter to Celtic's season-ticket holders apologising for miserable season in which they lost the SPL title to city rivals Rangers for a second successive season.

Celtic's home attendances fell dramatically in the closing stages of the season with the 60,000-capacity Celtic Park less than half full on several occasions.

Concerned about the financial impact a sustained period of failure would have on the former European Cup winners, Lawwell and Lennon will speak and take questions from fans. The first meeting is due in Glasgow next week.
