Celtic have denied rumours that Virgil van Dijk is set to join Southampton.

The Sunday Mirror reported that the Dutch defender was soon to sign with the Saints for a fee of £10million but a club source has told Press Association Sport that is simply not the case.

"The story is absolute nonsense," said the Hoops spokesman.

"Virgil will play on Tuesday. We have no agreement with any club."

Celtic take on Swedish club Malmo in the second of their Champions League play-off after edging a 3-2 win at Celtic Park on last week.
