Celtic have opened talks with star striker Gary Hooper as they try to fend off any interest this summer.
The 24-year old was Celtic's leading scorer as they swept to the Scottish Premier League title last season and has again attracted interest from Southampton who gained promotion to England's top flight.
But Hoops boss Neil Lennon is intent on keeping the former Scunthorpe United man at Parkhead and is looking to finalise a new deal as soon as possible.
"It went very well and we made it clear that we want Gary to stay.
"Gary likes it here and he's happy here. He's had such a good season and he's such a good player that no doubt there'll be clubs in for him, but we'll try and resist all offers that come our way.""We had a preliminary meeting with his agent last week and it was very cordial," he told STV.
