Celtic close on Rangers after Hearts victory

Rangers' lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League was reduced to eight points after being held to a 1-1 draw at Motherwell while second-place Celtic beat Hearts 2-0.

Defending champion Rangers were heading for a defeat until Kris Boyd equalised in the 80th minute at Motherwell, who had led through Tom Hateley's first-half free kick.

Celtic's victory came after they scored two quick-fire goals inside two second-half minutes.

Glenn Loovens put Celtic ahead in the 49th and Marc-Antonie Fortune quickly doubled their advantage.
