Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is being considered as a replacement for Ricky Sbragia at Sunderland.
The News of the World says there is growing support for Strachan at Sunderland who has become disillusioned with life at Celtic, despite a record of success that could actually top Martin O'Neill's time in charge at Parkhead.
He is thought to be ready for a return to England at the end of a season which could land him his fourth SPL title in a row.
He snubbed an approach from the Black Cats in December but still has a lot of support.
