Celtic boss Strachan in frame for Portsmouth job

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is being linked with managerless Portsmouth.

Strachan, once of Southampton, is among bookmakers' favourites for the Fratton Park post following Harry Redknapp's departure for Tottenham.

The new boss could be in place for the November 27 UEFA Cup meeting with AC Milan with former Bolton and Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce, ex-Chelsea manager and former Pompey technical director Avram Grant and Celtic's Strachan all figuring high in the bookmakers lists.

Former Liverpool and Southampton boss Graeme Souness was also at Fratton Park yesterday but many Pompey fans are in favour of Tony Adams although he would almost certainly leave if passed over.
