Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is delighted to have Patrick Roberts available for their Champions League clash with Manchester City.

Roberts is on-loan at Parkhead from City.

Rodgers told the Mail on Sunday: "Patrick is at the beginning of his career there. They identified him as a talent, he doesn't need to prove anything now but in a few years' time they will want him to be ready.

"The beauty of it is that he is available for this tie and that is thanks to City. I think it shows their focus - they see it as a big part of his development. I am not sure how many clubs would do that to be honest.

"Patrick's notion is to give everything he can for Celtic and go back there next year and see where he fits into the pecking order. So if he is playing then he will have that little bit in his stomach to want to do well."
