Celtic boss Lennon: My players have proved they can produce on the big stage

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has refuted claims that his squad are incapable of winning on the big stage.

Despite failing in their quest for this season's Scottish Premier League title, Lennon feels that his Hoops players continually produced when it counted.

And if people are not convinced, Lennon insists that Celtic will prove they have 'bottle' when they compete in Europe next season.

"People were pointing and asking questions like 'Do they have a big-game mentality?'. They proved they have by winning 92 points over the course of the season," he said.

"We had seven Glasgow derbies and came out on top in the majority of them, so they proved to me they could play at a high level.

"The question is can I, the backroom staff and the players handle the expectation as it's going to grow.

"That's the challenge which lies in front of us.

"We want to make inroads into Europe as well because we feel we have players who are capable of performing well at European level too."
